COVID Diaries - Catching Up

So far, this week has been 100 days long.  Good thing I have records of my exercise so I know what did or did not happen recently.

Saturday July 18: Last week was also 100 days long, And Saturday was hotter than fire.  I went to the gym in the afternoon and did some treadmill work but not a lot.  I also checked out a new taco place.  The tacos were fine, but no one else has salsa like Los Ocampo, so it's never the same.  We did not Zoom happy hour which I missed; but I think people needed a break which I also get.
Point it information: It was 90* and 95% humidity, the dew point was above 80*.  I accidentally found a disaster pan full of water when I looked in my machine closet.  So, obviously, that's a late FaceTime call with Olive.  At first we thought it was the water heater so I got that turned off.  Then we identified the source of the water as actually the a/c unit.  Well fuck.  Olive thought maybe the a/c had just been overwhelmed with the moisture in the air.  I pulled out my air mattress, went downstairs, and decided to evaluate in the morning.

Sunday July 19: I also woke up late and had minor motivation to exercise, but also significant motivation to sleep.  The events of last night took their toll.  When I woke up, the disaster pan was mostly dry, so that was encouraging.  I spent the morning attempting to make homemade roast beef in my instant pot.
I got a hot afternoon workout in.  I wound up with a sunburn.  Sigh. I had to run over to work to make some copies, random why it happened on a Sunday but it was no problem.  On the way home I tried a new produce store that was both adorable and out of cilantro.  So, parsley chimichuri sauce for me.  In the evening, the disaster pan started to fill more water again.  Doh.

Monday July 20: In which I work and my day explodes at 3:30pm.
First thing I called into a safety meeting for work (standard, quick). Afterwards I called my HVAC guy and set up a service call.  I was surprised but grateful he was able to fit me in the next day. He did ask me to turn off all my HVAC stuff so any ice would melt.
At 9:00am, I had an appointment at the DMV to get a new driver license.  No one batted an eye at my old DL being expired by 30 days.  I am surprised to tell you I had all of the correct documents on my first try.  That online registration really helped.  I followed it to the letter. Sadly the DMV was running behind because some agents were in a training, but things can only get so slow by 9am and the lady who helped me was super sweet. I left by 10am feeling liked I'd climbed a mountain.
I worked all morning.
At 1pm, I had a dentist appointment. This was a regular cleaning, and they basically didn't touch the area that'd had work done in June, other than to take a peek and tell me it appeared to be healing nicely.  Dentist is next to Lake Nokomis, so obviously that's where I got my run in on Monday afternoon, followed by a quick jump in the lake.
I knew I'd be working late because of the time out of my day earlier (and I felt fine about that), but at 3:30pm, all hell broke loose. (This is, apparently, why we have two people on Mondays right now.)  I think there were three emergencies I managed, but I kind of lost track.
I ordered Chipotle at the end of that work day; no way was I cooking.
I slept on the air mattress again.  Mercifully it was a super cool evening and I had the windows open and the fan on. I slept like the dead.

Tuesday July 21: This work week is already five days long.  How is it only Tuesday?
My HVAC person called and asked if he could see me first instead of in the middle of  the day.  It was raining and mine was an "inside job" versus some of the other things on his agenda.  I happily agreed.  It turned out to be something I couldn't have fixed this time (due to the part was made up and held together with duct tape), but I could attempt to problem solve in the future (since he put a new/correct part back in for me.)
I worked all of the day.  I mean, all day.  One of the things I needed to address kept morphing and changing and new layers were added. And some of the issues I identified were upsetting and needed to be problem solved. So, I mean, wow, it was a long day.  One of my coworkers really showed me a lot of grace at the end of the day, and took some stuff of my plate which was a huge relief.
So, Captain Smiley and I went for a walk.  We pretend house shopped, and yard shopped.  (Just pretend, we both like where we are.) We have an ongoing joke about "the yard I'd want" versus "this is how my yard would actually look".  Though, I have to say, for myself, I'm kind of loving spending time outside with my plants, so maybe it wouldn't be quite that bad?
After our walk, I hit up a short run.  It was after the run that I identified perhaps my hot water heater wasn't working properly after I touched it the other day? Like, the water in the shower used to be hot, but wasn't anymore.  So, I problem solved, and asked Olive for a consultation/work check the next day.

Wednesday July 22: I have a running buddy y'all.
I had the day off work for changing my schedule earlier in the week.
Olive came over around 9am and said she wanted to do longer than last week.  So, we aimed for 7-8 miles.  She bikes.  I run/walk.  I ran much more than normal today because, yo, it was 60* when we started and didn't get a ton warmer.  I was toast by the end of the run though.
After first meal, I napped hard.
I had an alarm set for 2pm so I could hear the governor/state address.  We're going to a mask mandate, which is expected. I appreciated that state officials took so much time to explain the science behind it, and also the numbers/economics of the mandate.  The governor was also very clear he wants kids in school if it's possible but apparently there's an announcement about that coming next week.
I talked to Dad.  He got to see Grandma today.  I cannot describe how wretched it has been to not be able to see her at all.  Though, I don't think I need to with some many other families in the same boat.  So, Dad sent me a pic, one of the staff must've taken it of him and Grandma.  So that made my heart happy.
For supper, I had one of my last hello fresh meals; there's more left than I thought.  Then, I addressed the dishes.  Oof.  Those had gotten a bit out of control
Now I'm sitting out on the patio enjoying the awesome Minnesota summer weather before it gets hot as hell again this weekend.

COVID Diaries - July 16 and 17

Thursday: I woke up a bit later and went for a run.  This was one of those runs with, um, issues.  So, I wound up around 4 miles on the run.  Then I worked for the day, which was fine.  After work I hit the gym for a weights workout, and knocked out my last mile on the treadmill.  When I got home, I practiced WebEx with Mom.  That was fine. Next up was all of the cleaning and organizing.  Wonderful accomplishment there.

Friday: I woke up around 5:30am (no joke), took one look at the weather and was all "I must arise now and run".  It turned out to be a great run with a super lower heart rate.  I came home, worked a bit, and took first nap.  I worked some more when I woke up. Then I got "the call".  Meaning "Daddy lost his iPhone".  There was a lot of swearing, mostly from my dad.  We tried to log into iCloud; he didn't now his password so that was a thing.  We re-set the password, wrote it down and logged in. Y'all: Find my iphone is not enabled on his phone.  So, I was facepalming pretty hard.  Since I've completely failed my parents, I took second nap.  When I woke up, I found Dungeon Master and took her to get a new car.  Literally. I wrapped up the day by laying on my couch watching one of my most favorite Agents of Shield ever.  I love the ladies on this show!
The low tonight is going to be like 80*, so I may hit up a treadmill on the gym as early as humanly possible right now.

COVID Diarires - July 12-15

Apparently it's been a minute over here on the blog.  Sorry.

Sunday July12: I have no memory of this day. No.  Okay, I remember now.
First I got up and ran.
Then I went to see Olive, who helped me with a project.  Hole saws are apparently a thing.
Next up, I saw My Pooky Bear, Pooky Baby and Qat Lady for an outside hanging out period.
For supper Captain Smiley came over.
And I ended the night helping Dungeon Master return a rental car.
I was exhausted.

Monday July 13: I worked, because I am a team player.  Also, my new work schedule seems to be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday.  Again, because I am a team player.  I had a nice run, and tried to stay out of trouble.

Tuesday July 14: I actually started the day at the office.  To get "fit tested" for an N95 mask.  My periodontist told me I can't wear the half face respirator right now because of my gums.  The N95s look a lot less intimidating.  And less bug like. I was tired and hungry today.  So, after work, I went and got myself a Smashburger.  And I'm okay with it.

Wednesday July 15: My day off for the week. Olive got a special bike that she can pedal or 'stride' on (like a kids learning bike).  So she came up and I ran while she biked with me. It was everything.  I went to Costco, and then hung out the rest of the day. Which, also, was everything.
Costco had lysol today y'all.  I almost got some as a gift for dungeon master.

COVID Diaries - July 11

Take care of my body: In the evening I went for a run.  I hope for rain.  The sky had all of the moods.  It didn't rain, but it was a close thing.
Take care of my heart/mind: Y'all, I'm sitting outside.  On a zoom call.  Also, I have a sweatshirt on.  Thank you Minnesota. I am in my bliss.
Take care of my living space: No.  But I didn't make it worse.
Take care of work or economic security: It's Saturday. All is well.
A clipping or link from the news: None.  The news is wild.
Things I tried to buy that are out of stock, or things that are now being advertised or sold that are new: I got fizzy water today.
Picture from the day:
I am thankful for: Did I tell you about the zoom call?

10.7.20

COVID Diaries - Friday July 10

Take care of my body: I ran 5 miles this morning.  It was hot and I should've taken water. Lesson learned.
Take care of my heart/mind: I got a burrito bowl from Chipotle and split it with Captain Smiley. And then we sat on my patio all evening.  It was everything.
Take care of my living space: Just, no.
Take care of work or economic security: I had 8 points on a 5 point day, so, that's how my day was.
A clipping or link from the news: No.
Things I tried to buy that are out of stock, or things that are now being advertised or sold that are new: Nothing, but I got Chipotle delivered and Captain Smiley's food from Postmates never came.
Picture from the day: have I mentioned my great neighbors?.  Just saying.
I am thankful for: See above.

9.7.20

COVID Diaries - July 9

Take care of my body: I ran 6.67 miles, which is my longest is quite some time. It was a run/walk, but I just cannot care about straight up running more than 1 mile/day since quarantine and all my races got cancelled.
Take care of my heart/mind: I talked to Mom and Dad for a while today.  That was lovely.
Take care of my living space: I made one of the Hello Fresh recipes I should've made last week.  It was good.
Take care of work or economic security: It was actually a super productive day at work. Almost 100% of the work was done from my back yard and I am loving it. I'd seriously like to thank the weather today.  I seriously needed a break from 95* highs and 75* lows we've had for the past two weeks.
A clipping or link from the news: Most of the news today is super political.  I'm trying not to be like "I knew my point of view was 'right'" because that doesn't feel like the right thing.  But, yo.  For serious.
Things I tried to buy that are out of stock, or things that are now being advertised or sold that are new: I had a couple new pairs of shorts come today, so I'm excited to give both of those a go.
Picture from the day: No.  I didn't take any.  Not even on my run.  There just wasn't anything "new' so to speak.
I am thankful for: I'd seriously like to thank the weather today.  I seriously needed a break from 95* highs and 75* lows we've had for the past two weeks.
Unrelated: My work computer has a touch screen and my home computer does not.  It gets confusing.

8.7.20

COVID Diaries - July 8

Take care of my body: I went to the gym and ran on the treadmill, and walked on the treadmill.  It's hot y'all.
Take care of my heart/mind: I cooked supper for me and Captain Smiley.  It was lovely.
Take care of my living space: I did clean up a bit, so that was good.
Take care of work or economic security: It's my day off.  At least I didn't spend any money.
A clipping or link from the news: Yo, apparently there is a shortage of actual money right now?  It's a thing.
Things I tried to buy that are out of stock, or things that are now being advertised or sold that are new: LOL, see above.
Picture from the day: The only pics I took are of the treadmill (because my watch mileage doesn't always match or come close to the actual mileage on the mill).  Those are boring.
I am thankful for: Captain Smiley today.

7.7.20

COVID Diaries - July 7

Take care of my body: I ran this morning.  This evening I went to the gym to lift weights.  It's much better for me to have a place to go, and a time to only do lifting/stretching/whatever.  I learned that during quarantine.
Take care of my heart/mind: I talked to my plants y'all.
Take care of my living space: My biggest accomplishment, no joke, is taking two massive bags of plastic to Target for recycling.  I hate walking in there with massive garbage bags.  I feel like a hillbilly.
Take care of work or economic security: We are having all the changes at work.  I did tell my boss I'd like to up my FTE for a while, if the work exists, but that's one of those "massively up in the air"things at the moment.
A clipping or link from the news: I love this article about Hamilton and how having more people see theater in different formats will make them want to see it in the original format as well.
Things I tried to buy that are out of stock, or things that are now being advertised or sold that are new:  Sorry.  I got nothing today.
Picture from the day: Honestly not sure I took any?
I am thankful for: I'm over here reliving my trip to CDMX and Captain Smiley's wedding so that's been sweet.

6.7.20

COVID Diaries - July 6

Take care of my body: I did an evening run.  Best thing we can say about it is I did not poop my pants.  I carried water which was smart. It's hot.  It was supposed to rain and it did not, which made me sad.
Take care of my heart/mind: I had actually a sad day.  One of my most favorite colleagues announced a change to their position this fall.  So I'm supportive, but sad because I really enjoy this colleague.
Take care of my living space: No.  But I didn't make things too much worse.
Take care of work or economic security: I worked today.  It turned out not to be as wild as I thought it'd be.
A clipping or link from the news: In 2020 bingo, did anyone have Bubonic Plague for July? I guess I'd also accept brain eating amoebas and "Florida makes people wear masks".
Things I tried to buy that are out of stock, or things that are now being advertised or sold that are new: Currently can't find a replacement cartridge for my soda stream.  This appears to be an ongoing issue.
Picture from the day: Fireworks carnage from one of the parks on my run.  Not the one closest to my house, but still quite close.
I am thankful for: I am sitting out here on my patio.  I've tried to be outside a lot today.  It's finally working.

5.7.20

COVID Diaries - Jule 3, 4, and 5

Friday July 3rd: I had the day off work for observation of the fourth.  I ran outside, and it was super hot.  Next up, I went over to my Pooky Bear's house.  I put my feet in a baby pool full of cold hose water, and hung out with the Pooky baby. We practiced splashing with our feet, and then sometimes with our hands.  It was a blast.

Saturday July 4th: I spent a long time at the gym.  I was happy for the air conditioning.  I ran on the treadmill and then hit up some weights. And then, I went to Smashburger.  It was so good.  For the rest of the day, I was just hiding from the heat.  We may have gotten the news that we are allowed to visit Grandma, two people, one time a week, for an hour.  There's very limited information about it though.  Meanwhile, I'm over here like "let me get in my car and head down".

Sunday July 5th: After some soul searching, I'm deciding maybe to improve my quarantine diet for a while and see if I lose some weight.  I haven't made any 'rules' for this.  But "don't eat crap" and "maybe fewer cheetos" are high on the list.  I did also make it to the gym today.  I did some walking and some running on the treadmill. And then did walking drills and all of the stretching.  For supper, I made homemade pesto.  Also heavenly.

2.7.20

COVID Diaries July 2

Take care of my body: It was 75* at 6am, so, y'all, I went to the gym.  I walked on the treadmill, ran on the treadmill, and lifted weights. Also, y'all, it's hot.
Take care of my heart/mind: I miss my Grandma a lot right now.  I don't know why.  I sent her a postcard.
Take care of my living space: Only thing I did outside today was water my plants.  It's hot.
Take care of work or economic security: I was accidentally like 5 or 6 points over my goal for work this week.  Work was crazy, especially today.  Actually me today: "I am late filing vulnerable adult report x about x because I had to file vulnerable adult report about ABC".  Y'all cannot believe ABC.
Things I tried to buy that are out of stock, or things that are now being advertised or sold that are new: I bought toilet paper today y'all.  Because I actually needed it.  But it still felt weird.
I am thankful for: I dunno.  Did I tell you how much I miss my Grandma?

1.7.20

COVID Diaries - I am slowing down on this, right

I'm doing June 29, 30 and July 1 on here.

June 29
Take care of my body: I went to the gym, hit the treadmill and did some weights.
Take care of my heart/mind: I helped a work friend with some mildly work related (but mostly not really) questions. Plus, I got to see a work friend.  Totally worth my time.
Take care of my living space: I may have cleaned the kitchen.  I am unclear
Take care of work or economic security: I worked y'all.  On a Monday.  Because Friday is the observed day for July 4 this year.  And I didn't want to take PTO.
Things I tried to buy that are out of stock, or things that are now being advertised or sold that are new: Related: Smashburger is not close enough to me.  Just saying.
I am thankful for: I cooked supper instead.

Take care of my body: I did a long run outside, super low heart rate even though it was so hot.
Take care of my heart/mind: I talked to a friend (more a friend of Mom and Dad's) who's always super kind to talk to.
Take care of my living space: I am dating Hello Fresh.  Just, like, to have some variety in food and make my brain work less for shopping.  We'll see how it goes.
Take care of work or economic security: I had to tell my boss I worked too hard this pay period.  Ooops.
Things I tried to buy that are out of stock, or things that are now being advertised or sold that are new: Hello Fresh is delivering to new people again, so that's good.
I am thankful for: So many things.

Take care of my body: In addition to running, y'all, I got my mouth stitches out today.  My joy is boundless.  There were a couple places in my mouth I didn't realize I had stitches and they hurt like hell.
Take care of my heart/mind: I talked to Mom and Dad for a while.
Take care of my living space: We'll see about that one.
Take care of work or economic security: I worked today, and did my first home visit since mid-March.  I now have medical grade equipment.  Like "hi, we have enough for social work to have some" so things must really be okay.
Things I tried to buy that are out of stock, or things that are now being advertised or sold that are new: So I adore Senita's 7" lux shorts.  Yeah.  They've been out of stock like all summer.
Picture from the day: It was a rough day with birds.  A fucking red wing black bird actually ran into my head today while it was dive bombing me.  And then
I almost stepped on this poor bird.  Yes, that's right.  She was sitting on the side walk, not moving.  Let me snap all kinds of pics of her
I am thankful for: Did I tell you about getting my stitches out?
