It hasn't been below 70* since sometime Saturday. (Thank goodness they turned the heat off on Friday!) I'm now thinking about how this heat spell will work with the training program. I was scheduled for a 15-miler this week but am intimidated to run that far in the heat this early in the year. I spent today on the elliptical at the gym (10 miles baby) to avoid the heat and avoid making that decision.
So, was it this hot last summer?
While pondering that question, here's a LINKFEST for you:
- Pillbox reminds me of a redneck's last words, "oh, it's not dangerous. Watch!" It's a great idea with a disturbing lack of oversight.
- Win for Kare11 for making people in Minnesota care about White Nose Syndrome before it gets here.
- Win for Burgerville (whatever that is) for printing calorie counts on receipts. Mayo has 180 calories?
- This sounds like such a good idea. Not sure when I'll man up and do it. I'm afraid that if I touch the toilet I'll break it.
- For all my friends interested in public health, here's how we roll in Minnesota. I knew someone who was on Team D. Once you realize that Team D solved two salmonella cases before the CDC could, it's actually pretty cool.
- Just piling on to the Facebook=the opposite of privacy parade.
- A Saudi woman opened fire on religious police officers. I don't like the part of the story that says she was shooting at the officers 'to distract them so the other dude could get away'. That seems an unlikely reason to fire on religious police, but I'm sure the details given to foreign media are incomplete.
- Portrait of the typical American volunteer. Win for the Midwest for having the highest rate of volunteerism in the country.
