Construction: An Update

The joke in Minnesota is that we have two seasons: Winter and Road Construction.  I don't know what the deal is, but it's just out of hand this year.  Maybe this sounds familiar?.  Some examples:

Light rail construction: This project is in Minneapolis and St Paul.  (Pictures are all from Minneapolis.)  This project is so serious, Google Maps has added the "Hiawatha Bridge Detour" bike route to the map.  Because that's how long this will last.

35W is closing for this weekend for lord only knows what.  94 Eastbound is also closed this weekend.  And the normal alternate route for 94, University Avenue, is under construction for the light rail.  Suck it.

The Minnesota 5 Bridge (the one that takes me to and from work) is a thoroughfare to the Airport and Mall of America.  It's down to one lane for the next little while.  That construction zone is only about fifty feet long but the merge backs up traffic for miles.

They're doing something at Maryland Avenue and 35E.  It involves the entrance ramps and possibly a bridge.  Relevant because I use this exit to avoid light rail construction in downtown St Paul.  Seriously.  Just stop.

How I feel about all this construction: You have got to be effing kidding me.
